Brian Harman's Ball on 17th at Sawgrass
US Pro, Brian Harman, found his ball in a difficult lie on the iconic, island green 17th hole at TPC Sawgrass during the first round of the 2018 Players Championship (see photos). Harman’s options were limited. a) He could not take relief for an embedded ball because his ball was inside the margin of the water hazard, Rule 25-2. b) For the same reason he could not take relief from the wooden bulkhead, an immovable obstruction, Rule 24-1. c) Nor could he deem his ball unplayable in a water hazard, Rule 28. d) Note that the line defining the water hazard margin is yellow, which means that the option of dropping within two club-lengths of where the ball last crossed the margin, not nearer the hole, is also not available, Rule 2... New Venue for Premier Girls’ Tournament Kicks Off Second Decade of ANNIKA Foundation’s Mission to Promote Women’s Golf, Health and Wellness(ORLANDO, Fla.) – The ANNIKA Foundation – golf Hall-of-Famer Annika Sorenstam’s charitable organization – is bringing its flagship U.S. event, the ANNIKA Invitational USA presented by Rolex, to the World Golf Village in St. Augustine, Fla., Jan. 12-15.Produced in association with the American Junior Golf Association (AJGA), this will mark the 10th-consecutive edition of the 54 hole, stroke-play event. This year’s 72 player, all-girls field (ages 12-19) represents 15 different countries and 16 different states. She has played in three ANNIKA Invitationals including the inaugural ANNIKA Invitational Latin America where she took home the title. Mathilde Claisse of Poissy, France, opened the ANNIKA Invitational USA presented by Rolex with a 3-under-par 69 and leads by one.The 10th ANNIKA Invitational USA presented by Rolex boasts a field featuring the best female junior golfers from around the world. The 72-player field includes 17 of the top-25 girls in the Rolex AJGA Rankings and six of the top 10. The champion will receive a Symetra Tour exemption into the Florida’s Natural Charity Classic in March.Claisse, who started on No. 10, carded a birdie on the par-3 15th and made the turn at even-par 36. The University of South Carolina verbal commit carded three birdies on the back nine to post a 3-under-par 33.
