Cory Lopez, ANNIKA alumna came from behind, ending up with a final round 7-under-par 65 in the girls division of the Major Champions Invitational.

Lopez’ tournament total was 207 was 9-under-par. She came in two shots clear of runner-up Linn Grant.

Grant lead the girl’s division after the first and second rounds, but Lopez made a huge extra effort.

Nick Faldo, now Sir Nick Faldo, World Golf Hall of Famer created The Major Champions Invitational tournament. Faldo is a six-time major champion.

This women’s event is an extension of the Faldo series. It allows major champions the opportunity to help and support the next generation of players through mentoring them up close.

81 of the world’s top amateurs featured in this tournament, 21 of them ANNIKA alumnae.

Amanda Linner and Jiayi Wang, both from Team Annika, carded a 1-over-par 73 in the final round.

Both Linner and Wang moved up the leaderboard to finish T9.

Team ANNIKA noted that San Marino, California native, 17-year-old Elizabeth Wang shot her personal lowest score today.
