Cameron Young impressed spectators at the Wyndham Championship by firing off four consecutive birdies on the opening nine holes Saturday. His burst lifted his margin to eight strokes and concluded with a 5-under 65 round that put him five shots ahead as he aims for his first PGA Tour win. Earlier, in a morning round delayed by a storm, Young posted a flawless 65 with no bogeys, setting the stage for his surge. His hot streak featured a 30-foot birdie on the fourth hole and a two-putt birdie from 20 feet on the par-five fifth.
His strong early play instilled determination and reinforced his control on the course.
Young said, "I enjoyed about an hour of strong play. I had chances on later holes, though I missed a few short putts. I managed to keep steady play and wrapped up my round nicely."
